This Week's Bible Lesson

Use these lesson plans and videos on Sundays or any day you'd like!

Preschool

Crossing the Jordan (Joshua 3-4)
Ms. Marisa Reads the Story

THE MAIN POINT: God brought His people through the Jordan River on dry ground.

Talking Points
  • Talk about how God can do anything! Say something like, “God dried up all the water in the Jordan River to help His people. That means He can do anything to help us, too.” Then repeat the phrase “God can do anything” with your preschooler a few times.
  • Explain that obeying God means listening to God and doing what He says. You could say, “In our story today, God told His people how to cross the River and they needed to follow His instructions so that they would get safely across. It’s good for us to listen to God, too, because He wants to keep us safe.”
Activities

CROSS THE RIVER

  • Grab a blanket, fold it the long way, and lay it across the floor like a river.
  • Say something like this to your preschooler: “God helped His people get across the Jordan River on dry ground and now it’s your turn to cross the river!”
  • Instruct your child to cross the river in different ways (i.e., crawl, jump, run, walk).
  • You can have fun with this by making the river longer or wider by adding more blankets!

DIP YOUR TOES IN

  • This would be great to do outside but would also work in a bathtub!
  • Fill a large bowl, plastic pool, or the tub with water.
  • Say this to your preschooler: “In our story today, the priests had to dip their feet into the water before they could cross. Once they dipped their toes in, the whole river dried up. Now we’re going to dip our toes in the water just like the priests did!”
  • Spend some time dipping your feet into the water and talking about how cool it is that God helped His people get across an entire river on dry land.
