Talking Points
  • Talk about what it means to love God and love others. Ask your preschooler if they can think of things that they can do to love others well. Examples: sharing their toys, saying kind words, drawing a picture for a friend.
  • Remind your preschooler that God is good and cares about us a lot. He gave us these 10 guidelines because He knows what’s best for us. He also knows that sometimes we might not be able to follow these guidelines perfectly because Jesus is the only one who can. Spend some time talking about Jesus!
Activities
  • FIND 10!
    • Say this to your preschooler: “This week’s story is all about the 10 commandments. Since we’re focused on the number 10, I need your help collecting things in groups of 10 from all around the house!”
    • After you gather things in groups of 10, play together. For example, make a tower with 10 legos, get 10 markers and draw a picture using all of them, find 10 books and read them together as a family.
  • MAKE A MOUNTAIN
    • Say this to your preschooler: “Today we learned that Moses climbed up a big mountain and talked to God. Let’s make a mountain just like the one in our story!”
    • Use soft and fluffy things (i.e., stuffed animals, pillows, blankets) to make a mountain in your living room.
    • Take a picture of your preschooler with their mountain and send it to marisag@cpconline.org to be shared with the CPC community via Instagram.
