GMCC: ADULT MENTOR FOR EX-OFFENDER
Did you know that more than 8,000 men and women will be coming in and out of the Adult Correction Facility in Plymouth this year alone, and that over 30% are from the suburbs? When ex-offenders ask what makes a successful reentry, one common answer is having a positive person in their life. A mentor walks with this person by spending time together, listening, being supportive, offering ideas and life experience, maintaining healthy boundaries, and meeting consistently. Supportive relationships can make the difference in reducing the rate of recidivism. Make a difference in the life of a man or woman by becoming a mentor for an ex-offender. Training and mentor support is provided. GMCC will work with you to match you schedule and asks for a commitment of four hours a month for 6–8 months.
